The club was organized to promote recreational releases on the Coosa Members of the Coosa River Club donated much of their personal time petitioning the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for dependable and attractive recreational flows on the Coosa. The summer weekend recreational flows were ordered by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission after many years of negotiation with the Alabama Power Company. If you would like to support the efforts of those who campaigned many years for these flows, join the Coosa River Paddling Club and support river preservation and the continuing development of Corn Creek Park in Wetumpka, AL.
The Coosa River Paddling Club is presently involved in litigation to regain the legal right to access the Coosa River via the River Falls common area. Proceeds from events such as the Coosa River Whitewater Festival enabled the CRPC to purchase the Club property located in the cul-de-sac just above the former common area at River Falls Subdivision. The purchase of the property was to ensure access to the Coosa River by CRPC members and they family and friends. It is the area from which Coosa River Paddling Club Members used to access the Coosa River. According to the plat of River Falls it is a common area to be used by River Fall’s property owners. At this time, club members cannot access the property without prosecution due the issuance of a Sheriff’s Deed reassigning ownership.
