A Safety Talk will begin on the hour. It will cover river hazards, personal responsibility for your safetyyou’re your rental. Please take care of your personal needs and be ready to board the bus to the put-in immediately following the Safety Talk. Listen—information will be presented that will help you have a fun day.

Items to bring for your use while “Doing the Coosa” include protective shoes to wear on the river (flip flops will not stay on if you take a swim), waterproof sunscreen, soft style coolers containing water and/or soft drinks, snacks in a waterproof container, and  sunglass/eyeglass retainers so that you do not lose your eyewear.

The following items may be needed after you get off the river: towel, toiletries, dry clothes and shoes. do not take these items down the river—leave them in your car.

It is important that you:

  • Don’t take towels down the river. Towels are frequently lost and become litter on the river bottom. You should leave the towel in your car along with a change of clothes and shoes.
  • Don’t paddle with anything valuable. Leave valuables at home!
  • Don’t carry phones or other electronic devices on the river unless they are protected by waterproof containers. Waterproof containers are available for purchase at Coosa Outdoor Center.
  • Don’t carry your keys.  Keys are best left at the check-in desk as paddlers have been known to turn over and lose their keys.
  • Don’t miss the take-out!  ($30 Fee Item)
Both our rental business and our Southern Trails outdoor specialty store are located in the Coosa Outdoor Center facility Located on the east side of the Coosa River just north of the Highway 14 (Coosa River Parkway)/US 231 intersection at 172 River Road in Wetumpka, Alabama, our 20-acre site can accommodate your camping and paddling needs. Having been in the business for over 30 years, we are experienced outdoor enthusiasts. Rentals and camping are available April through October.
